What We Do

Marsh
SVT is dedicated to preserving the special quality of life that characterizes the region for more than 650,000 residents as well as non-resident employees of local firms in the thirty-six communities within the watershed.  SVT's mission is guided by a comprehensive strategic plan, and fulfilled through land acquisition and stewardship, advocacy and education.  Read below to learn more about our core programs of land protection and stewardship.

Land Protection

Land Trusts give private citizens the opportunity to become directly involved in conserving open space.  Learn more about how SVT is protecting land around your watershed, and why.

Stewardship

The stewardship program is responsible for the management of the reservations that SVT owns and for the monitoring and oversight of conservation restrictions. SVT owns 72 reservations, totaling over 2,200 acres, and 46 conservation restrictions, totaling over 1,100 acres.  Learn more about the stewardship program.

Properties

SVT currently owns, through gifts and purchase, more than seventy properties in sixteen towns, a total of over 2,200 acres.  Additionally, SVT holds conservation restrictions on more than 1,000 acres that protect the land from further development.
The Land Protection and Stewardship staff are always on the look out for new properties under threat of development or help in maintaining our current responsibilities.  If you would like to get more information about assisting this team, please email one of our staff or call us at 978-443-5588.
