Craig Smith photographed the following at SVT's Cedar Hill Reservation in Northborough: blue dasher dragonfly, cedar waxwing, chimney swift, common yellowthroat, eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly, hairy woodpecker, Halloween pennant dragonfly, and two monarch butterflies.
Butterflies along the Crane Swamp Trail

April 9, 2012 Steve Moore of the Massachusetts Butterfly Club submits this list of butterflies seen in the Crane Swamp Trail area of Marlborough, Northborough and Wesborough. Steve recorded his butterfly sightings during visits from 2007 to 2011. His list counts 422 records of 1,687 individual butterflies of 54 species. This represents about half of the species of butterflies in the entire state. A summation of his list, by frequency, is below. If you're interested in learning more, the Massachusetts Butterfly Club is planning an outing to the Crane Swamp area, including SVT's Cedar Hill Reservation, on Saturday July 21, 2012 at 9am.
