Farms We're Helping To Protect

Land protection efforts can take many years to come together, and we are grateful to those landowners in our area who have been good stewards of their lands – sometimes for multiple generations – in keeping them open.  This is particularly true of farmers, who as owners of what is most often very developable land, face many challenges in staying viable and staving off pressure to develop that land.  SVT is working with landowners, local land trusts and local officials to try to save working farmland. Here are a few photos of land for which efforts are underway.
The Caouette property, Acton: Farmed by the owners of Stonefield Farm across the street, Acton's Special Town Meeting just voted to acquire it for conservation, with SVT's help.

Mainstone Farm’s beloved Belted Galloways. This Wayland farm produces beef, eggs, and produce.
Stonefield Farm, Acton, provides a bounty of produce from its 50+ acres.
SVT and CCF aim to protect a critical piece of River Road Farm in Carlisle. With over 1,000' of frontage on the Concord River, the Elliott family's farm represents a unique and well-loved portion of the Carlisle landscape.
