Wolbach Farm, Sudbury

Come and enjoy individual hands-on instruction with an emphasis on developing textures, washes, shapes and creating the illusion of light.  This workshop will include painting demonstrations that will teach you how to explore your own personal painting style.  Beginners are welcome!  Fee does not include materials. Class limit: 12 people.

Desert Natural Area, Memorial Forest, Sudbury

Choose one (or both) of two dates (May 29, June 25) and join us on an evening walk to hear whip-poor-wills at Memorial Forest and the Desert Natural Area.  These rare birds are more likely to be heard with the light of a full moon.  You will also have the opportunity to learn about the habitat and ecology of pitch pine-scrub oak barrens.  Straddling the border of Sudbury and Marlborough, the Desert Natural Area comprises 615 acres of public and private open space dedicated primarily to conservation.   This includes the General Federation of Women's Clubs of Massachusetts' Memorial Forest and Wildlife Sanctuary, two tracts of Marlborough State Forest, and conservation lands owned by the Town of Sudbury (Hop Brook Conservation Area) and City of Marlborough.  Limited to 15 participants.

Great Oak Farm is located at 227 Highland Street, Berlin 

Sudbury Valley Trustees and the Town of Berlin are working to preserve Great Oak Farm and make its trails open to the public.  Join us for a walk on trails followed by local ice cream.  RSVP to Ashley Davies, SVT's Regional Conservationist, Americorps-MassLIFT Member.  Free to attend.  

Sawink Farm, Westborough

Join us on National Trails Day to hike SVT's trails on Walnut Hill in Southborough to the Trustees of the Reservations Chestnut Hill Farm.  The Walnut Hill Trail, opened last year, is a result of a partnership between SVT and the Department of Conservation and Recreation and will help connect trails in Westborough and Northborough to the Reservoir Trail in Southborough and long term to the Bay Circuit.  Join us at SVT's Sawink Farm Trailhead on Walker Street in Westborough for a walk on the trail.  A car shuttle to Chestnut Hill Farm will be organized.

Gowing’s Swamp, Concord

Gowing's Swamp is an enchanting, level bog complex set within a dramatically glaciated landscape, including a deep kettlehold bog in the southern end.  This ancient depression supports such locally rare plants as Black spruce, bog rosemary, pitcher plants, bog laurel, and associated lichen and fungi species.  Join our spring walk along the verdant shorelines, fields, and ridges that encircle Gowing's Swamp, enjoy its many beautiful vistas, seasonal flowers and fragrances, learn more about the bog's ecology, and discover the rich history of this very special Concord landscape.  We'll meet in the Ripley Playscape gathering circle behind the Ripley School at the end of Meriam Road in Concord, MA.

Lake Whitehall, Hopkinton

Lake Whitehall, located in beautiful Hopkinton State Park, is a very clean and serene lake, shallow and easy to maneuver.  We will paddle around and explore some of the many small islands found in the lake.  The area teams with wildlife; there is a good chance of seeing a beaver lodge.  BYOB (bring your own boat).  Since this is a night-time paddle, experienced paddlers only!

Come to a weekend-long celebration of the Sudbury, Assabet and Concord Rivers!  We are fortunate in having these three beautiful rivers in our area.  Riverfest events are all free and include paddles, fishing, birding, lectures, music, art, and  more in over ten different communities in the watershed.  Watch for events at Wolbach Farm!

Wolbach Farm

Come meet the staff of Drumlin Farm who will be leading a new series of summer camps for children at Wolbach Farm in July and August.  Also meet  Sudbury Valley Trustees staff, and get a look around Wolbach Farm's facilities and grounds.  SVT and Drumlin Farm look forward to welcoming you and your children at this introductory open house.
