Robert Martin, of Edgell Rd in Framingham offers the following account of his encounter with a flying squirrel:
"While cleaning my gutters at approximately 3:15 pm on Friday, I spotted this critter, a Northern Flying Squirrel on my roof.  In my yard, I have gray squirrels, red squirrels, field mice, voles, and moles and now, flying squirrels.  While standing on my ladder, two stories from the ground, I watched this critter hop and run from one end of my roof looking for a way to escape.  He finally took a desperate plunge down the gutter down spout, which probably shook him up, and gave me the opportunity to go in the house to grab my camera.

I didn't know what I was looking at until I indentified it on the internet.  Big black eyes, field mouse like head, flat furry tail, tan upper body fur, light biege belly fur...well just look at the photos..."

Jack Russel writes that he saw a flying squirrel at Russell's Garden Center in Wayland:  "I saw a flying squirrel at 6PM while closing up the store on Wenesday evening. It flew right in front of me, landed on a tree about four feet away, looked at me, scampered up to the top of the tree and glided off. There have been several other sightings after dark around the property, but it was moving so fast, just a grey blur, that no one has had a real strong ID on it."
