Craig Smith photographed an American robin, beaver, Canada geese, common mergansers, great blue herons, a red-winged blackbird and a song sparrow at the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge in Maynard and Sudbury.

Karen Krowne photographed this tree that had been chewed by a beaver at the reservoir in Hamlen Woods in Wayland.

Dan Foster used his automatically triggered wildlife camera to photograph beavers, a gray fox and an unidentified canid, likely a coyote or gray fox, at SVT's Herene Reservaiton in Stow.  In some of the photos, the beaver can be seen bringing leaves and mud from nearby Elizabeth Brook to add to its scent mound, marking its territory close to its dam on the brook.

Dan Foster used his remote wildlife camera to capture this series of beaver photos at SVT's Herene Reservation in Stow.  Dan writes:

"The Herene Reservation in Stow borders Elizabeth Brook, and the local beavers have established a dam across the river.  I set up my camera downstream from the dam, where it appeared a new beaver scent mound was under construction.  Beavers build these mounds and deposit scent (castoreum) to mark their territory. 

On March 22nd, a beaver approached the camera, stood on its hind legs to investigate, and then launched back into the water with a splash."

Leon Wardle reports the following story to accompany his photos above:  "on June 30th two snapping turtles were busy at what they do near the summer solstice.  The activity involved a lot of noisy splashing, which attracted me and my camera.
