Instructions for feeder watchers:
The purpose of the feeder watcher program is to identify the species in your yard and in the vicinity of bird feeders and to determine the  number of each such species that is present. Some feeder-watchers may want to observe their feeder(s) on a continuous basis while others may choose to check their feeder areas periodically. Obviously, the numbers of species as well as the total number of individuals per species will vary over the course of the day. Please make your best estimate for each species of the maximum number of individuals of that species that visited your feeder area at any one time during the day, keeping in mind that double-counting of individuals should be avoided wherever possible. One possible approach to do this is to prepare a separate count list for each time that you check your feeder and then at the end of the day review your various lists and pick out the highest count for each species.
